Our History: A forward-thinking family business

Formed in 1988 in Coatbridge, Lanarkshire, Reigart Contracts Ltd has grown steadily in size and reputation to become one of the largest demolition contractors in Scotland. Through the ongoing development of our staff, constant investment in specialist plant and equipment and close attention to health and safety we have built up a meticulous and highly dependable range of demolition services.

There is a great breadth and depth of experience within this family company that stretches back over three generations to the 1950s when the Reilly family first started to work in demolition to assist with Scotland’s reconstruction after WWII. Today, Reigart Contracts Ltd. is a modern family business that understands the needs to marry the strengths of a close-knit team with efficient 21st century management structures for the benefit of our clients, the company and the local community. We believe that it is this forward-thinking attitude coupled with our ongoing programmes of investment in staff, plant and quality control that has helped the company achieve our current market position and will ensure our continued development in the future.

Key dates in our history:

  • 1896: Reilly Coal Merchants & Haulage was established in Coatbridge, Lanarkshire, Scotland
  • 1940-50s: Expanded into demolition during the reconstruction after World War II
  • 1969: National Federation of Demolition Contractors since 1969
  • 1988: Reigart Contracts Ltd founded as a specialist demolition contractor
  • 1990: Acquired current premises at Gartgill Road
  • 1993: Elected members of National Federation of Demolition Contractors
  • 1995: Obtained Quality Assurance Accreditation
  • 1996: Hornock Road offices constructed and licensed recycling facility established
  • 1998: Reigart celebrates 10th anniversary
  • 2001: Office suite further extended and completed
  • 2001: Acquired Drumcavel Quarry landfill site as a recycling centre
  • 2003: Expansion of storage and recycling facilities at both Hornock Road and Drumcavel Quarry
  • 2008: Explosives demolition contract carried out in Paisley, Scotland
  • 2009: Reigart Contracts 21st Anniversary / 40th Anniversary as members of the NFDC
