Reigart sponsors 2009 Poetry Festival

In partnership with North Lanarkshire Council, Reigart was delighted to sponsor the Arts Guild Poetry Festival for young people from Secondary, Special and Primary schools throughout the region.

The event was held over two nights on the 1^st and 2^nd of June, in Committee Room 1 in the Municipal Buildings at Kildonan Street, Coatbridge, almost a hundred young North Lanarkshire. Poets entertained the large, appreciative audiences by reading their original poetry while their poems were projected on a four metre screen.

To mark the occasion, Reigart have arranged to publish a Poetry Anthology containing the poems of all the young people who participated in the two nights of the Festival. Each participant and their school will be presented with an individual copy of the Anthology as a memento of their achievement.

All the pupils who took part rose to the challenge of presenting their work in public with great aplomb and demonstrated how successful and confident many of our young people have become.

The success of the occasion has prompted North Lanarkshire Council to repeat the Festival next year which they intend to promote as The Reigart Poetry Partnership.
