Explosives: A market-leading, explosives service − from site-assessment to blowndown

Reigart provides a market-leading, in-house, explosives demolition service carried out by some of the most experienced explosives engineers in the country. The company specialises in the safe demolition of residential tower blocks but also undertakes the explosives demolition of chimneys and other industrial structures across Scotland and throughout the UK.

Reigart Contracts has the personnel, the plant and the management systems to plan and execute every aspect of this exacting process. Explosives demolition projects must be meticulously coordinated and require close liaison with Building Control, the Highways Department, police, fire brigade, utility companies, other statutory undertakers and community groups. This ensures the safe and efficient explosives demolition of structures wherever they may be located.

The process we follow typically involves the following key stages:

  • Site assessment

  • Design and sequencing

  • Contents removal

  • Asbestos removal

  • Soft stripping

  • Pre-weakening

  • Drilling

  • Protection works

  • Charging with explosives

  • Exclusion zone

  • Blowdown

Once the structure has been blown down, the resultant debris is separated and recycled and the site levelled for future development.

Reigart Contracts Ltd is based in Coatbridge in Lanarkshire and is delighted to undertake explosives demolition contracts throughout Scotland and the UK.
